14th February Martyre Day: The martyrs of the Pulwama attack

The martyrs of the Pulwama attack (14th February 2019) were brave CRPF personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The attack, orchestrated by a Pakistan-based terrorist group, was one of the deadliest on Indian security forces in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Pulwama attack on 14 February 2019 was carried out by a suicide bomber associated with the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). The attacker, Adil Ahmad Dar, a local Kashmiri youth, rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a convoy of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel in Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, resulting in the martyrdom of 40 soldiers.

Jaish-e-Mohammed, led by Masood Azhar, claimed responsibility for the attack. Following this attack, India responded with the Balakot airstrike on 26 February 2019, targeting JeM’s terror camps inside Pakistan.

The attack led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with global condemnation of terrorism and strong diplomatic actions taken by India.
