The recent explosions in Lebanon, especially in Hezbollah-controlled regions like Southern Beirut, Bekaa Valley, and South Lebanon, have shocked the world. While Hezbollah quickly pointed fingers at Israel, it’s important to take a step back and analyze the situation with a more discerning eye. Israel, often demonized by its enemies, is constantly on high alert, defending itself from threats posed by militant organizations like Hezbollah.

Hezbollah’s Role in the Region

Hezbollah has long held a stranglehold over parts of Lebanon, particularly in the south and the Bekaa Valley. It’s no secret that Hezbollah has a deep-rooted connection to Iran and has been using Lebanon as a proxy for regional destabilization. They are involved in smuggling, illegal arms deals, and numerous other illicit activities. Their open animosity towards Israel and continuous provocations have kept the region in a perpetual state of unrest.

It’s important to note that Hezbollah has access to sophisticated communications devices like pagers and walkie-talkies, which they use for coordinating their operations. The fact that these devices exploded recently in multiple locations, leading to numerous casualties, raises questions. While Hezbollah blames Israel, it’s worth asking whether Hezbollah’s own mishandling of these devices or possible internal issues could be responsible.

Hezbollah’s Escalating Threat to Israel

For years, Hezbollah has amassed weapons and military technology, often supplied by Iran, with one clear target in mind: Israel. Time and again, Hezbollah has attacked Israeli civilians, planted bombs, and fired rockets into Israel’s northern territories. In this environment, Israel is justified in its constant vigilance and defense against such terrorism.

The Lebanese health minister reported that more than 20 people have died and over 450 have been injured from the recent explosions. Most of the affected areas are Hezbollah strongholds, which leaves many questions unanswered. Why were these explosions confined to Hezbollah-controlled areas? Was it truly an Israeli action, or a technical failure within Hezbollah’s dangerous and reckless activities?

Israel’s Right to Defend Itself

While Hezbollah and Lebanese officials may have been quick to pin the blame on Israel, it’s important to understand that Israel has the right to defend itself. For decades, Israel has been surrounded by hostile forces that have vowed to destroy it. Organizations like Hezbollah, which are supported by regimes such as Iran, seek to destabilize not just Israel but the entire Middle East.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant recently spoke of the “new round of war.” Israel must remain vigilant. There is ample evidence that Hezbollah has repeatedly violated international laws by stockpiling weapons in civilian areas and using these areas to launch attacks on Israel. In such an environment, Israel is justified in defending its borders and taking measures to neutralize threats from terrorist organizations.

What the World Needs to Understand

When examining the events in Lebanon, it’s critical for the international community to view Israel’s actions not as an aggressive overreach, but as a necessary defense mechanism against terror organizations that have no regard for human life—whether Israeli or Lebanese. Hezbollah is infamous for using human shields, and their actions often lead to the deaths of innocent civilians, including their own supporters.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s warning of rising tensions in the region is timely. But the international community must realize that true peace will only come when organizations like Hezbollah are dismantled, and Lebanon is free from their influence.

The Hypocrisy of Hezbollah’s Blame Game

Interestingly, Hezbollah has been using communications devices like walkie-talkies and pagers for years. These are not new tools for the militant group. Yet, only now are these devices suddenly exploding, causing significant harm. While Hezbollah is quick to blame Israel, the fact remains that Hezbollah’s own negligence or internal sabotage could easily be the cause of these accidents. The explosions conveniently occurred in areas where Hezbollah operates, raising suspicion.

Moreover, blaming Israel is a tactic frequently used by Hezbollah and other militant organizations to garner international sympathy and shift attention from their own failures. The explosions happening during funerals and public gatherings serve to create an emotional atmosphere where rational investigation takes a backseat to finger-pointing and baseless accusations.

Israel Deserves Support, Not Condemnation

Israel has shown remarkable restraint over the years despite being under constant threat from Hezbollah and other groups. The recent explosions in Lebanon should not be used as a tool to malign Israel, but rather as a wake-up call for the international community to address the destabilizing role Hezbollah plays in the region.

As more details emerge, it’s essential to approach the situation with a clear understanding of who the real aggressors are. Israel, surrounded by hostile forces, has every right to protect its citizens and territory from organizations that openly seek its destruction.

Conclusion

The explosions in Lebanon, while tragic, should not serve as another opportunity for Hezbollah to rally anti-Israel sentiment. Instead, they should prompt a broader discussion about the role of Hezbollah in the region and its continuous endangerment of both Lebanese and Israeli lives. Israel’s actions in defending itself are not acts of aggression but necessary measures to ensure its survival in a region rife with hostility.

The international community must stand with Israel in its fight against terrorism and work towards disarming militant groups like Hezbollah, which only contribute to the suffering and instability in the Middle East.
